Great Lodging options in Patagonia

Cinco Rios (Five Rivers) Fly-Fishing Lodge, Coyhaique

Just a 10 minute drive out of town, Cinco Rios is a full service fishing lodge run by the very hospitable Galilea brothers.  All 8 rooms are spacious with private baths and views you can sit and look at all day long. They are a nice layout for either a couple, or, some have two king-sized beds, perfect for friends sharing a room. Three multi-course, gourmet meals are included, hence the nick-name Cinco KILOS Lodge!  Make yourself at home here for a week, or two, and enjoy the guided fishing trips, Condor watching, hikes, horseback treks, or just relax in front of the fire, or on the deck. Free WiFi for guests.

El Reloj Hotel, Coyhaique - the capital of the Aysen (Aisen) region, Patagonia, Chile

A lovely small hotel & restaurant in a great location. Hidden behind the place is a garden for relaxing and enjoying a wonderful view - hard to believe you are right in town.  Free WiFi for guests.

Ecolodge Fiordo Queulat

This property has several charming, rustic cabins spread out among gardens of roses and Nalco - strange, large-leafed plants that look like they were once dinosaur food. Owners "Rosy" & "Pato" are warm, friendly and knowledgable about all sorts of things. Rosy lived in the states and speaks English well, and Pato is knows all about the plants and animals of the "temperate rainforest" that surrounds the property. The lodge specializes in fishing and hikes, and can arrange onward journeys through Aysen / Aisen.

Fundo Los Leones Lodge (Farm of the Lions), Raul Marin Balmeceada

Tucked up in the fjord lies this picturesque farm, with well appointed, doll house-like cabins and a hot tub with an incredible view. This is the kind of place where you hide away from the world. For excitement, cruise the fjord looking for the Chilean dolphins, and visit the resident sea lion colony!  A delightful place to stay!

Shehen Aike, Puerto Ibanez

Puerto Ibanez is a good base for lots of excursions. These clean, comfortable cabanas are run by "Wolf" and his wife. Wolf can organize all sorts of activities and tours - he is full of enthusiasm, a wealth of historical knowledge, and a good cook too!

El Puesto, Puerto Tranquilo

A contemporary house with three comfy, immaculate rooms upstairs and a tranquil living & dining area shared by guests. Owners Francisco and Tamara can arrange trips onto the glacier, kayaking on Lago General, and other excursions. Tamara prepared us a wonderful, healthy meal of salmon ceviche, salad with homemade cheese - it was delicious!

Hostal Alacaluf, Exploradores Glacier, Puerto Tranquilo

If you are going to hike onto the Exploradores Glacier, you'll want an early start, and the Alacaluf gets you as close as you can get without camping.  If mother nature cooperates, as she did for us, you'll wake up to views of the snow capped peaks.  The German owners fed us a hearty meal and got us to bed early for our big hike the next day!

Espacio y Tiempo (Space & Time), La Junta

La Junta is a convenient location to break up long journeys through Aysen. Espacio y Tiempo is right off the hiway, but having dinner on the garden deck, or lounging at the log bar, leaves the road far behind, (at least for a night or two). Owners Connie and Alan can take you "cata-canoing" on the gentle, scenic Rio (river) Palena.

Terra Luna, on Lago General Carrera, Puerto Guadal

Stunning location overlooking an incredibly turquoise lake. As their sign says, "A place for unique people" - horses graze photogenically, children entertain themselves on a miniature "climbing wall" above the restaurant, French owner Phillipe will take you on his jet boat, there are mountain bikes to use, you can relax in the lakeside hot tub or just read a book on the deck!  An eccentric place!

Termas de Puyuhuapi (Puyuhuapi Hot Springs-Spa Hotel), Puyuhuapi

Accessable only by crossing the fijord by boat (shuttle), this spa hotel sits nestled in the forest, overlooking a bay, isolated from civilization. If you want to stay here, you must book in advance. There are hot springs, hikes, kayaks, indoor swimming pool, jacuzzis, mud baths and massage.

Green Baker Lodge (on the Baker River), Puerto Bertrand

This ecolodge overlooks a scenic stretch of the Baker River. The cabins have small kitchens, living area and bedrooms with shared bath. There is a restaurant and deck overlooking the river, and you can fly fish right in front of the lodge. The Baker river is great for rafting too!
